The Provincial Travel Nurse Team offers positions for eligible nurses to work at locations or facilities across the province with high-priority staffing needs. Travel nurses can identify their preferred health region(s), facility(ies), work location(s), and specialty area(s) in which they are interested in working.

Incentives and Benefits:
- Incentive Pay
- Below the 53rd parallel (south of the Northern Health Region): pay of $6 per hour or additional 15% of current wage, whichever is greater
- Above the 53rd parallel including Northern Health Region, Berens River and Churchill): pay of $10 per hour or an additional 25% of current wage, whichever is greater
- Eligible for additional weekend premium incentive and Full-Time Nursing Incentive
- When the work facility is 50km or more from your home address, you can receive:
- Paid travel time (at your regular pay) and mileage calculated to and from your home address
- Per diem of $60 per day below the 53rd parallel and $65 above the 53rd parallel

Interlake-Eastern Regional Health Authority

Northern Health Region

Do nurses on the Provincial Travel Nurse Team receive pay incentives?
Pay incentives vary depending on the location of the work assignment within the province.
Nurses assigned to work in locations below the 53rd parallel will receive a premium of $6 per hour OR 15 per cent (whichever is greater) for all hours worked.
Nurses assigned to work in locations above the 53rd parallel (Northern Health Region, Berens River, and Churchill) will receive a premium of $10 per hour or 25 per cent (whichever is greater) for all hours worked. Travel nurses are also eligible for the weekend “Super Premium” and the Full-Time Nursing Incentive, in addition to the float pool pay incentive for hours worked.
What is the pay scale for Provincial Travel Nurse positions?
Compensation for travel nurse positions aligns with the successful applicant’s qualifications, years of experience, and hours worked.
What skill sets and experience are required to work on the Provincial Travel Nurse Team?

If I am currently employed by another Regional Health Authority or by Shared Health and I apply for a casual position on the Provincial Travel Nursing Team, will all hours worked accrue overtime premiums?
No. Overtime would not apply to hours worked on the Provincial Travel Nurse Team, as all hours worked are considered separate.
It is important to note that if you hold a position at a Manitoba healthcare facility, including casual status, you will not be able to pick up shifts at that facility through the Provincial Travel Nurse Team.
Do nurses on the Provincial Travel Nurse Team receive paid sick time and health benefits?
Nurses who are full-time or part-time with the Provincial Travel Nurse Team will receive paid sick time and health benefits based on their hours worked and in accordance with the MNU Collective Agreement. Casual nurses may also opt in for EAP.
Do nurses on the Provincial Travel Nurse Team receive a pension?
Nurses who are full-time or part-time with the Provincial Travel Nurse Team are entitled to participate in the pension plan. Casual nurses may voluntarily opt into the pension plan.
If I work as a casual PTNT nurse, can I also work as an agency nurse?
You cannot work as an agency nurse at sites PTNT supports.
As a casual PTNT nurse, how frequently should I take shifts?
It is important to regularly take shifts with PTNT to maintain competency at the sites you support.
Will orientation and accommodations be arranged when working a block of shifts?
Yes. Once a block of shifts has been assigned, PTNT nurses may request accommodations. The health region supported by PTNT will coordinate the accommodations and provide confirmation details.
Is PTNT unionized?
Yes – this is an MNU position that follows the collective agreement.
