The Canadian Society for Medical Laboratory Science (CSMLS) is the national certifying body and national professional society for medical laboratory assistants in all Canadian provinces and territories, except Quebec.

Completion of the CSMLS National Certification Examination is preferred, but is not required, to work as an MLA in Manitoba. To be eligible to write this exam, you must have graduated from an EQual™ accredited Canadian medical laboratory educational program or have completed a Prior Learning Assessment through CSMLS.

The Manitoba Association of Medical Laboratory Science (MAMLS) is the provincial professional association of CSMLS.
