Occupational therapists (OTs) help clients regain, maintain, and improve their ability to complete their everyday tasks and activities. They use their specialized knowledge and skills to help with a range of things, including self-care, driving, working, playing sports, and gardening – anything that brings meaning to their client’s life.

Role Requirements

  • Occupational therapists work in different environments, including hospitals, clinics, rehabilitation centres, long-term care facilities, and community agencies.
  • Depending on their role, occupational therapists may spend a lot of time on their feet and are often required to bend, stretch, and reach.
  • Occupational therapists work collaboratively with other disciplines to support patient care goals.
  • Occupational therapists work eight-hour shifts, including days, evenings, and weekends.
