Ongomiizwin Health Services
Ongomiizwin offers primary and secondary care, preventive health measures and health education. Ongomiizwin delivers health care by registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, nurse practitioners, family physicians and medical specialists; educational and summer programs for medical students; facilitates healthcare research in northern communities and responds to community requests for specific assistance.
- provides healthcare delivery to rural and remote northern areas with largely First Nations and Inuit populations
- provides hospital-based services in Norway House and Hodgson
- provides consultation to 12 nursing stations located in Berens River, Bloodvein, Chemawawin, Garden Hill, Grand Rapids, Little Grand Rapids, Pauingassi, Poplar River, Pukatawagan, Red Sucker Lake, St. Theresa Point and Wasagamack
- provides service to eight Nunavut health centres
